omputer Centre administers and manages the entire Campus Computer Network which includes Departments, Schools, Centres, Main Administrative Building, Hostels and the Guest House. Network Connectivity is also provided to the remote locations like Institute Hospital, Security Cameras, etc.
We provide Web-based Email GPO that enables all the users to access their mailbox from anywhere (inside or outside IITB) via the Internet, an institute wide directory service LDAP and centralized storage Bighome to every student, faculty and staff for personal use. We encourage use of free and open software like GNU/Linux distributions. We host mirrors of popular GNU/Linux distributions on our FTP Portal. We also provide various advanced and special purpose softwares such as Ansys, Matlab, Mathematica, Maple, Techplot, etc. for all the campus users.
The faculty and staff of computer centre are involved in spreading computer literacy by delivering lectures in other institutions and organizing Continuing Education Programs. They also organize lectures and training sessions for the administrative staff to enable them to get comfortable with the World Wide Web.
