Steps for checking physical connectivity
If physical connectivity seems fine then go to the next section: 1. Check if your IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS entries are correct (Please refer to Note 1 below for more details). 2.Type the following command in command prompt/ terminal for finding your IP on the machine: On windows: "ipconfig". This command shows the machines IP address, subnet mask and gateway. 3. Try to ping few machines in your building using the command prompt/ terminal. The command is: "ping x.x.x.x" 4. If that succeeds, try to ping the switch of your building. The details of switch are given in Note 2 below. 5. If that succeeds, try to telnet the gateway. The details of gateway are given in Note 1 and 3 below. You can telnet using command prompt/ terminal. The command is: 6. If all is done but still you are unable to connect to the network, please register your complaint online at Problem Report or drop a mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. If we find that your machine is generating virus traffic and disrupting the network, we may need to block your machine from accessing the network. Please apply latest patches available on Support regularly and keep your machines virus free. 3. Please remember that CC is responsible for any network related problems upto the switch in your building. Beyond that it is users physical and financial responsibility. You can contact vendors in case of problems with your computer or the network cable coming in your house. 4.
